Philosophy of Henning Elementary
We, the faculty and staff of W.T. Henning Elementary School, believe that we are
responsible for providing a quality educational program for each child to be
able to develop to his/her fullest potential physically, mentally, and
emotionally. We work toward achieving this by following the Louisiana Content
Standards and Benchmarks, the Comprehensive Curriculum, and teaching strategies
that will accommodate the different learning styles of all children.
We believe that if we are going to nurture and develop self-confidence, create a
love for learning, and achieve knowledge and skills then our curriculum must
meet the needs of regular education students, special education students, and exceptional learners.
We believe that our children need to be prepared to function and contribute to the community. We provide opportunities for group work, leadership roles, independent work and the sharing of responsibilities through our activities and discipline plan.
We believe that communication between the home, school, and community is vitally important. We have an open-door policy, parent-teacher conferences, a Partners in Education Program, a six-weeks newsletter, papers sent home weekly, the school web site, and the local and area media that accomplishes our communication with all concerned.
We believe that it is necessary to evaluate our programs and methods to be able to grow and achieve our goals. We attend local and state conferences, complete self-evaluations, participate in the parent-teacher organization, and the Partners in Education Conference.
"To provide a quality education for ALL students."
