Bank Day

Jeff Davis Bank & Trust Company has become a partner in education with W.T. Henning Elementary School. Their focus will be the "Banking at School" program, This is an excellent way to teach students the value of saving. The savings account will be opened at school in the participant's name with the master account carried at Jeff Davis Bank.

W.T. Henning students will run the bank, with assistance from Jeff Davis Bank employees. Fifth grade students will be chosen as customer service representatives, tellers, bookkeepers, and security officers. They will be trained by bank personnel to complete signature cards, deposit slips, and how to calculate and post interest.

The savings program will be available to all students in grades first through fifth every third Wednesday of each month. The initial deposit must be $2.00 or more, and the minimum balance cannot fall below $2.00. The bank will be open twice a month and deposits of $1.00 or more can be made. Loose change is acceptable: however students should wrap large quantities of coins. In order to withdraw funds, a permission slip from a parent or guardian must be forwarded to the school bank two weeks prior to the actual withdrawal.

Permission slips must be signed and returned to school in order for a student to participate. Below are the program guidelines.

  1. The amount of the initial deposit to the savings account must be a minimum of $2.00.
  2. All deposits must be made in cash only, no checks.
  3. The amount of each deposit after the account is open will be $1.00 or more.
  4. Withdrawals will be processed the next bank working day. One-day notice is required for any withdrawals.
  5. A signed Savings Withdrawal Permission Slip or note, from a parent or guardian, must accompany all withdrawals.
  6. Each account is required to maintain a minimum balance of $2.00.
  7. If the account is closed, it cannot be reopened this school year.
  8. The savings account will earn the current interest rate and will be paid monthly on the average daily balance.

The school bank is not insured by the F.D.I.C., however, the master account at Jeff Davis Bank is F.D.I.C insured.

Labels for Education

We are collecting several different labels this year to help assist our school in receiving extra money to buy playground equipment, other items and supplies to help teachers better educate our children. So please cut, save and send your labels. There are rewards for the classes collecting the most labels each six weeks, so ask your family and friends to help collect these. If you have any questions please e-mail Amy Henry at amy.henry@cpsb.org.

Below you will find a list of labels that we are collecting.
